Harmon Kardon sold only a few speaker models duringthe 60s the HK-50s among them. All specifications and speaker sizes are explained in the links Cut and paste both of the below links. Veneers are still beautifully rich in coloration and with absolutely minimal blemishes. The wood has a beautiful sheen with just a coat of lemon oil. The Russell article shows pictures of a HK50 speaker that is deteriorating. However, unlike those in the article, these speakers were extremely well taken care of in humidity controlled environment, so there is no separating of the plywood like you see in the Russell article pictures, in the above link. We tested the speakers in a 24 x 17 living room using a Kenwood KA5500 amp. Separating them to almost the length, everywhere they were placed, these Omnidirectional speakers sounded open and spacious. ![]() They would make great front or rear speakers in a theater setup as well as looking quite retro with a 60-70s stereo setup. If our room were not equipped with a built in surround setup I would have kept them. Please look at the pictures carefully and ask any questions before bidding. THESE SPEAKERS ARE 43 YEARS OLD but you could not tell their age from their looks or sound. They are two beautifully MADE IN THE USA products from New York State. If you are a collector of vintage audio or just want to hear great sound these are the ones for you. Missing are the small rubber plugs covering the RCA inputs on the bottom, they can be bought for pennies. They are identical except in the pictures, one has a painted bottom and unpainted speaker compartment the other is the opposite. A wonderful product from a generation of inspired engineers who did not design with C.A.D. While there is no home pick offered, we are willing to meet anyone halfway at an agreed to location up to a 30 mile radius from Philadelphia PA A small charge for packaging materials will be added.
